Where to Eat in Rome on Ferragosto: Mesob

Ferragosto, aka August 15 and the Feast of the Assumption, is one of the hardest days to get fed in Italy. In fact everything pretty much shuts down, so if you need produce, laundry detergent, TP, whatever, you’ve been warned. All of Rome’s best restaurants will be closed, except for one: Mesob. This exceptional and ridiculously economical Ethiopian restaurant on via Prenestina will be open at both lunch and dinner on August 15. If you are game for intense flavors, authentic dishes, and perfectly seasoned food, hit it up.

Mesob is located at Via Prenestia 118 (15 minutes on the 5 or 14 tram from Termini). Call +393382511621 for bookings.

Thanks for the tip – my friend and I were basically the only customers for lunch, but the food was great!
