A few weeks ago, I was deep into a much-needed holiday when I got literally the only job proposal that could distract me from days dedicated to nurturing an intense and gorgeous tan (my fellow Italian American New Jerseyans will understand the supreme importance of this summertime pursuit). The pitch: come to Modena for 10 days to work on a super special project with your friends and make sure everyone is well fed and sufficiently hydrated on natural wines and amaro. I couldn’t sign on fast enough.

I had been to this gorgeous town in Emilia-Romagna a bunch of times before to eat at Osteria Francescana or to attend a Postivoro dinner but these short trips weren’t exactly deep dives, so I was thrilled to spend the second half of August totally immersed in the food and drinks of Modena. I visited some old favorites like Archer, Da Panino and Bar Schiavoni and finally made it to Hostaria Giusti. I also made some fun food excursions out of town. You can find out more about these and my other recommendations in My Modena City Guide and KP’s Modena Map below.
