Tucked away on a dead end street (ronco, locally), is the charming Magnolia B&B occupying a newly renovated 18th century building. Each of its 9 rooms, all named for flowers, are decorated with antique furniture and soft colors, giving the impression of a dollhouse. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and satellite TV. Best of all, Magnolia is quaint, clean and moderately priced. And you can’t beat its location on the island of Ortigya, Syracuse’s historical center. The B&B is a 5 minute walk to the sea, the Duomo, and countless restaurants and cafes.
Ortigya is the absolute best place to stay in the city. Though it is a 30 minute walk to Syracuse’s famous Greek Theater and Neapolis excavations, the mainland and its hotels lack the charm and ambiance of Ortigya.
