Beginning tomorrow, March 5, 2008, the Roman Forum will no longer be a free site. All visitors must purchase tickets to the site at one of 3 booths: Via San Gregorio, 30, the Colosseum, or Via dei Fori Imperiali (next to the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina. For nearly 10 years the Forum was free but authorities cite the presence of pickpockets and unlicensed vendors as a reason for the new policy. Tickets will cost 11 euros where there is an exhibition in the Colosseum (which there is most of the year), and 9 euros between exhibitions.
