Normally, my blog entries focus on Rome and southern Italy but I just got back from a long weekend in Venice and had to share some of my finds. To be honest, on previous trips to Venice, I was left a bit deluded. I often asked myself how anyone could enjoy such commercialized, overpopulated city?  After this weekend, my opinion has completely changed. The city was actually full of Venetians, not the throngs of cruise-goers who are destroying the city, year by year. And some careful research on where to eat only served to intensify my new love for Venice.
