With hundreds of fabulous restaurants in the neighborhoods around the Pantheon, Campo dei Fiori, and Piazza Navona, sometimes it’s difficult to choose. Here are some of my favorite places:

Lucifero
Via dei Cappellari, 28
0668805536
Closed lunch
Lucifero is a small, quaint, and bustling a family run establishment specializing in fondue and steak. Their filetto al basalmico (filet mignon with a basalmic vinegar reduction) is quite possibly the best steak I have ever eaten.  And their fonduta con fontina e tartufo bianco (cheese fondue with fontina cheese and white truffles) is a must if truffles are in season.

Trattoria
Via del Pozzo delle Cornacchie 25
0668301427
Closed Sunday
Just around the corner from the Pantheon, this elegant Sicilian restaurant with uber-modern interior is one of the few see-and-be-seen havens in Rome that is actually worth a visit. Chef Filippo La Mantia prepares Sicilian recipes with a twist-no garlic! Nevertheless, his dishes are flavorful and deserts divine.
